Artist Statement

Figurative imagery inspires me and plays an important role in my artistic expression. I am particularly drawn to create portraits of people, animals and landscapes in both realistic to expressionistic styles. I often put brush to canvas first and create a watercolor or oil painting first of my image working out color and composition. Boldly using color and shadow to create movement I capture the heart and soul of a scene. I am beginning to translate some of my paintings into art quilts, joining my love for painting with my love of quilting to express my visions in thread and fabric creating stunning art quilts.
