About

Joanne’s metalsmithing journey began as a young adult while attending college at CSU in Fort Collins, CO. She was drawn to the vibrant blues and greens in turquoise and various colors in natural stones seen in the abundance of handmade jewelry in and around the Rocky Mountains.

She took a jewelry class at Rochester Institute of Technology near her hometown in upstate New York and learned the basics of forming, forging, soldering and polishing, working with sterling silver. Then life got busy raising three sons, owning a small business breeding Connemara ponies and a career in connecting horses and people with diverse needs. Since slowing that part of life down and grown children, she jumped back into jewelry making and finds sitting at the bench creating unique pieces of jewelry one of her happiest places. And still in love with the beauty of cabachons (stones cut by a lapidary artist) and finished pieces in silver and other metals, with all the color and shine that starts from the earth and nature.
