About
Nancy is a silversmith best known for her sterling silver chainmail, in which hundreds of hand-linked rings are woven into flexible, intricate patterns. She also fuses 24k gold onto fine silver with Keum Boo, ripples heated silver into organic surfaces through reticulation, and adds hand-hammered and stamped textures. Paired with natural gemstones, these techniques give classic, minimalist designs a distinctive character. Her collection includes necklaces, pendants, earrings, rings, and bracelets.
Jewelry has fascinated Nancy since childhood, when she spent hours taking apart and recreating any piece she could find. After her first silversmithing class in 1999, she spent years honing her craft while building a career in education, and in 2005 she founded her jewelry business. She spent 42 years working with students and teachers in the Howard County Public School System, teaching secondary English and instructional technology and often weaving art and creativity into her lessons. When her sixth-grade students wrote and illustrated picture books, for example, she made sure they also learned about art and illustration. Today she tutors high school students in English and American History, and she remains a student of her own craft, always learning something new.
