About

Liz Cresap is a Purcellville based fused glass artist who has been designing and creating glass artwork for over 30 years. She creates functional as well as decorative fused glass pieces. Growing up, she lived and studied in Europe and was inspired at an early age by the beautiful stained glass windows of the French and Italian Gothic cathedrals. Her life-long love for stained glass was the catalyst for her venture into the world of creating glass art.

Liz began her glass career in stained glass. Soon after taking a class, she began designing and creating her work to be sold in galleries and shows as well as creating
beautiful commissioned pieces for individual clients.

A decade later, she decided to broaden her glass knowledge and began her journey into fused glass. The merging of colored cut glass sheets, heated or “fused” in a kiln to form lovely glass pieces was an exciting new challenge and fusing glass became her new passion. Sometimes her fused glass art is functional and sometimes it’s a fanciful flower garden plate.

Her goal is to take the viewer on a journey into her art work. Whether they feel an emotional pull towards the piece or just love the color combinations, she hopes it brings joy to the viewer, as it does to her. “There are so many exciting avenues that glass can travel. I am constantly growing in this medium.”

Liz has a degree in interior design from the University of Maryland.
