Tatyana working on a glass basket

Tatyana Zidarov

About

Tatyana’s glass journey started a few years ago when her husband gave her a fused glass class as a birthday present. She took the class and was immediately hooked.  As a kid, she used to spend hours drawing and coloring completely losing track of time. Later, she painted with oils and water color and did pottery, but it wasn’t until she started working with glass that she found her passion. Now she can’t stop, she loves the colors, the ability to combine small and large pieces of glass and glass powders and create something new. As she continues to evolve and grow in her craft, she remains committed to exploring new techniques and ideas.  Her journey is one of constant learning, inspired by the ever-changing and always inspiring canvas of the natural world.

Artist Statement

“I find inspiration in nature and try to reflect the amazing colors I see around me in my work. Each piece I create is unique, even when part of a series, no two pieces will be identical. It usually takes days to finish a piece. I start by deciding on the design and selecting the colors. Next, I create the piece using sheet glass, glass powders, crushed glass, stringers, and other elements. The piece is then fired in a kiln up to 1500 degrees and then a few more times to achieve its final shape. Opening the kiln is always a thrill. I love the challenges and the surprises this amazing medium brings; you never quite know how a piece will develop when the glass is melted.

I’m excited to share my art with you. I love seeing my work bring joy and happiness in people’s homes and lives.”
